Morocco Weather Alert: Heavy Rain and Winds Up to 90 km/h

Bad weather continues across the Kingdom. In an orange-level alert bulletin, the General Directorate of Meteorology is forecasting an intense spell of rain and strong winds for Thursday, February 5, through 23:00.

The heaviest rainfall will be concentrated in the north of the country. The provinces of Chefchaouen and Tétouan are expected to record totals ranging from 50 to 90 mm. Heavy rain (30 to 50 mm) will also affect Larache, Al Hoceima, Fahs-Anjra and M’Diq-Fnideq, while lower amounts (20 to 30 mm) are expected in Tanger-Assilah, Taounate, Taza and Ouazzane.

Winds will also blow strongly. Gusts ranging from 75 to 90 km/h are expected across a vast geographical area. This phenomenon will affect the Mediterranean coast and the Rif (Tanger, Tétouan, Al Hoceima, Nador), the Oriental region (Oujda, Berkane, Figuig), the Middle Atlas (Ifrane, Boulemane), as well as the Atlantic plains (Kénitra, El Jadida, Safi) and the southeast (Ouarzazate, Taroudant).
