Morocco’s Walid Regragui Named Third Best National Team Coach Globally by IFFHS

After being named best African coach in 2022, Walid Regragui was elected third best national team coach in the world by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
Walid Regragui is being rewarded for the efforts made during the World Cup. He is the first African and Arab coach to lead an African team to the semi-finals of the competition. The Moroccan coach’s performance is even more exceptional in that he inherited the national team just a few months before the World Cup.
Regragui was elected third with 30 points behind Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni with 240 points and France coach Didier Deschamps who finished second with 45 points. Scaloni, winner of the 2022 World Cup, thus succeeds Roberto Mancini, winner in 2021 and Didier Deschamps, winner in 2020. The Moroccan coach is the first African coach to reach the podium of this type of ranking.
