Morocco’s Tit Mellil-Berrechid Highway Construction Ahead of Schedule

Sunday 2 June 2024, by Sylvanus

The construction work on the Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway, which is intended to facilitate traffic from the north and east to the south of Morocco, will be completed earlier than expected.

Launched in January, the construction work on the new Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway is progressing at a rapid pace. The completion rate of the site has already reached 25%, reports Le360. This work will be completed earlier than planned. "The teams mobilized are actively working to reduce the planned duration of the work, the completion of which is scheduled for 2026," assures Omar Sikkal, general manager of ADM Project. Tarik Faïk, works director at Mojazine, one of the companies working on this site, is in the same dynamic: "We have deployed more than 35 engineers and technicians as well as 300 workers who are doing their utmost to maintain this intensive pace. More than 120 construction equipment are currently in action, and we plan to increase this number in order to ensure the continuity and efficiency of the work."

With a length of 30 km, the Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway will connect the Casablanca bypass highway (A1) to the Casablanca-Marrakech highway (A3) and the Berrechid-Beni Mellal highway (A4) at the Berrechid highway interchange. "This route not only diverts a substantial portion of transit traffic, thus sparing the urban axes of the economic capital from congestion, but it also simplifies access to Mohammed V Airport and Deroua," explains Omar Sikkal. With a total estimated cost of 2.5 billion dirhams, the project includes four lots: Lot 1 runs from the Berrechid highway interchange to Deroua (11 km); Lot 2 concerns Deroua and Mediouna (10 km); the road between Mediouna and the Tit Mellil junction (10 km) forms Lot 3 and Lot 4 provides for the construction of four viaducts between the Berrechid highway interchange and the Mohammed V Airport interchange on the RN9. It is part of the program contract between the State and ADM.
