Morocco's 2.5 Billion Dirham Highway Nears Completion: Casablanca Traffic Relief on Horizon

The work on the future highway connecting Tit Mellil to Berrechid is progressing at a steady pace. Launched in September 2023, this construction site has a progress rate of 75%. Its delivery is scheduled by the end of 2025.

"The work is progressing at a steady pace thanks to the mobilization of the technical teams and the close coordination between the various stakeholders," confides a manager of the National Motorway Company of Morocco (ADM) to Le360. "We are doing our utmost to meet, or even anticipate, the deadlines without compromising quality or safety standards," he adds.

The total cost of this project is 2.5 billion dirhams. It is the first in Morocco designed from the outset in 3 × 3. 30 kilometers long, the Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway aims to improve traffic flow around Casablanca and improve the connection between Berrechid, Mediouna and Mohammed V Airport. "This choice is based on traffic projections, the development of the Casablanca-Settat region, as well as the results of the technical studies carried out upstream," explains the ADM manager.

The project is divided into four main sections: the first connects the Berrechid interchange to Daroua (11 km), the second connects Daroua to Mediouna (10 km), the third extends from Mediouna to the Tit Mellil interchange (10 km) and the fourth concerns the construction of four bridges between the Berrechid interchange and the Mohammed V airport junction on national road no. 9. The work is carried out by four Moroccan companies, under the supervision of the ADM.

The highway connecting Tit Mellil to Berrechid "is designed as a strategic bypass for transit users," the manager points out, specifying that this project aims to strengthen inter-urban connectivity and streamline logistics exchanges, thus contributing to the improvement of the economic attractiveness of the Casablanca-Settat region. The construction site should be delivered before the end of 2025, before the contractual deadline set for April 2026.
