Casablanca Plans Major Highway Link to Ease Traffic and Connect Key Routes

A new highway is planned to connect the Casablanca-Rabat and Casablanca-Had Soualem highways. The objective: to improve traffic flow around the economic capital, particularly for journeys between Rabat, Berrechid and Had Soualem.
In detail, the new highway link will connect the continental Casablanca-Rabat highway to the Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway, the Casablanca-Berrechid (A3) highway, the Casablanca-Had Soualem (A1) highway and the regional road RR320, according to Le360. Its main objective is to significantly reduce the distance and travel time for users going to Berrechid and Had Soualem from Rabat.
A few weeks ago, the Ministry of Equipment and Water had launched studies for the construction of a highway to connect the Rabat-Casablanca continental, Rabat-Fez and Kenitra-Tangier sections.
"The purpose of this study is focused on the development of variants for the connecting highway between the Rabat-Casablanca continental, Rabat-Fez and Kenitra-Tangier highways and the proposal of potential corridors and the outline of relevant solutions that compose them," the department of Nizar Baraka had specified in a document accompanying the call for tenders.
