Morocco Begins Construction on New Rabat-Casablanca Highway for 2030 World Cup

The Moroccan Ministry of Equipment has announced the upcoming launch of work on a new highway between Rabat and Casablanca, aimed at improving traffic flow between these two major cities.
This large-scale project, which should be completed by 2028, is part of Morocco’s preparations for the 2030 Football World Cup.
The Rabat-Casablanca continental highway, 60 kilometers long, will be parallel to the existing highway. It will directly connect the Rabat bypass, from the Tamesna interchange, to the new southern bypass of Casablanca (Tit Mellil). Its route has been designed to pass near the Benslimane airport and the future Grand Stadium of Casablanca, currently under construction.
The construction site plans the construction of several engineering structures to cross seven wadis, including those of Cherrat, Nfifikh and El Maleh. Divided into six sections, this new road infrastructure will help reduce the traffic jams that regularly paralyze the current highway and the national road, especially during rush hours, public holidays and weekends.
