Morocco Begins Construction on 30km Tit Mellil-Berrechid Highway to Ease Casablanca Traffic
Thursday 21 September 2023, by
The Moroccan Motorway Company (ADM) announced the start of construction of the new Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway. A project aimed at facilitating traffic from the north and east to the south of the kingdom.
The Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway is the first national highway with an initial 2X3 lane design. The project, which is part of the program contract between the State and ADM, will be carried out entirely by Moroccan skills. With a total investment of 2.5 billion dirhams, it aims to facilitate the traffic passing through Greater Casablanca and reduce the travel time for users from the north and east to the south of the kingdom, explains ADM in a press release.
With a length of 30 km, the Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway will connect the Casablanca bypass highway (A1) to the Casablanca-Marrakech highway (A3) and the Berrechid-Beni Mellal highway (A4) at the Berrechid highway interchange, the press release specifies. The project includes four lots: Lot 1 runs from the Berrechid highway interchange to Deroua (11 km); Lot 2 concerns Deroua and Mediouna (10 km); the route between Mediouna and the Tit Mellil junction (10 km) forms Lot 3 and Lot 4 provides for the construction of four viaducts between the Berrechid highway interchange and the Mohammed V airport interchange on the RN9.
The project will be fully financed by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (FADES), and its completion is expected to take 30 months. The execution of each of the four lots will be entrusted to four major Moroccan construction companies that will benefit from the expertise of ADM Projet, ADM’s technical arm.
