Morocco Accelerates Major Highway Projects Ahead of 2025 CAN and 2030 World Cup

The construction of the Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway, as well as the transformation works of the two highway junctions at Ain Harrouda and Sidi Maarouf, are progressing at a steady pace, in preparation for CAN 2025 and the 2030 World Cup.
According to the National Highway Company of Morocco (ADM), these highway projects are progressing at a good pace. With a cost of 2.5 billion dirhams, the new 30 km Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway is 65% complete. Launched on October 30, 2023, for a duration of 30 months, the project aims to connect the Casablanca bypass highway to those of Marrakech and Béni Mellal. "We are aiming for commissioning before the end of 2025, several months before the contractual deadline of April 23, 2026," announces Omar Sikkal, General Manager of ADM Project, the subsidiary in charge of major projects.
The project includes the construction of two interchanges, one on the Médiouna road (RR315) and the other on the RN9 to serve Mohammed V airport and the city of Deroua, as well as four viaducts, including one over Oued Hassar. It will be carried out in four lots. The first (11 km), between the Berrechid highway junction and Deroua, has been entrusted to the Mojazine group; the second (9.9 km), between Deroua and Médiouna, to El Hallaoui SARL; the third (10 km), between Médiouna and the Tit Mellil junction, to the BIOUI-GTR group, and the fourth, relating to the construction of the 4 viaducts, to SEEG SARL.
The transformation of the Sidi Maârouf and Aïn Harrouda highway junctions is 40% complete. A three-level hybrid interchange is planned for the first to absorb the 140,000 vehicles that pass through it daily. The work requires an investment of 500 million dirhams and involves the construction of eight structures, the widening to 2 × 5 lanes of several sections, and the construction of new ramps. Delivery is scheduled for the end of 2025. The Ain Harrouda highway junction concerns the section between Mohammedia West and the Aïn Harrouda junction, through which 120,000 vehicles pass daily. With a cost of 750 million dirhams, the project includes eight lanes in each direction and an elevated intersection at the industrial zone roundabout.
Furthermore, ADM has announced the imminent launch of work on the Rabat-Casablanca continental highway. With a length of 59 km, this project with a budget of 6.5 billion dirhams aims to facilitate access to the future Hassan II Grand Stadium in Casablanca, under construction in Benslimane. "The contracts are in the process of being awarded. The start of work is imminent, with delivery scheduled for 2028," it is specified. ADM is relying on national companies for the realization of these various highway projects.
