Morocco Tightens COVID-19 Restrictions, Threatens Neighborhood Lockdowns

As part of the state of health emergency, the Ministry of the Interior announced on Monday that neighborhoods that do not comply with health measures and are likely to become new infection hotspots will be systematically closed and quarantined.
The public authorities have proceeded to close, in certain regions, production, service or tourism units that have not respected the current health protocol, indicates the ministry in a press release.
After analyzing the epidemiological situation in the kingdom during this summer period, the ministry noted the non-compliance with preventive and health measures by some citizens.
Aware that the risk of contamination is still high, the health authorities will ensure strict compliance with the preventive measures required by the government and will sanction with the utmost rigor any failure to comply with the established rules, concludes the press release.
