Morocco Tightens COVID-19 Measures for Eid Al-Adha Celebrations

In this context of covid-19, the Ministries of the Interior and Agriculture are mobilizing for the celebration of Eid Al-Adha without health risks.
These departments have taken preventive measures to avoid the spread of the coronavirus during the Feast of Sacrifice which will most likely be celebrated on Friday, July 31 in the kingdom. Control measures will thus be strengthened in residential neighborhoods or areas where new outbreaks have been detected, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
Similarly, the local authorities will issue authorizations to professional butchers and seasonal workers carrying out the ritual of sacrifice, the Interior said in a statement dated Friday, July 16. They will carry out covid-19 screening tests and benefit from tools and products, including protective masks, antiseptic and disinfectant products, well before Eid Al-Adha. This is expected to ensure compliance with the preventive measures in force.
The Agriculture Department has warned against any risk of contamination during the summer period and the celebration of Eid Al-Adha. "There is a risk of closing markets that do not comply with health instructions," warns Aziz Akhannouch, Minister of Agriculture.
For its part, the ONSSA reassures about the health status of the national herd.
