Morocco’s King Mohammed VI Observes Eid Al-Adha Prayer Under COVID-19 Precautions

King Mohammed VI performed the Eid Al-Adha prayer on Friday, July 31, 10 Dhu Al-Hijjah 1441 of the Hegira, at the Royal Residence in M’Diq. He was surrounded on the occasion by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid.
This prayer was performed in compliance with the preventive health measures aimed at combating the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
After the prayer, the king performed the ritual of sacrifice, according to the tradition of the Prophet Muhammad. The imam also proceeded to the immolation of the second sheep.
Just like Eid Al-Fitr last May, the Muslim community celebrated Eid Al-Adha outside the mosques, in compliance with the preventive measures enacted by the health authorities to try to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.
