Morocco’s Tanger-Med Port Implements Coronavirus Screening Measures

The port of Tanger-Med is taking steps to detect any potential case of coronavirus at an early stage. The prevention program of preventive measures takes into account ships coming from countries that have confirmed being affected by the virus.
The Tanger-Med health control service, through the implementation of this practical program, remains in line with the decision of the Ministry of Health, relating to the establishment of health control at international ports and airports, said Abderrahim Rachdi, head of said service and regional coordinator of the health control services in the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.
The program is based on two axes. The first provides for monitoring ships coming from countries affected by the virus, particularly China, while the second aims to control travelers coming from Europe who have already visited one of the affected countries, reports the MAP.
The port has been equipped with a thermal camera, advanced devices to measure temperature, protective clothing and 4 equipped ambulances to handle any potential case. The monitoring of the health status of travelers begins from the maritime health declaration, compulsorily filled out by the captains of the ships, according to the health rules issued by the World Health Organization, Rachdi said.
These are the measures put in place by the Ministry of Health that explain that no potential case of coronavirus has been recorded at the national level and at the level of the port of Tanger-Med. The Tanger-Med health control service is "fully prepared" and ready to manage these cases.
