Morocco Implements Medical Screenings for Travelers Amid Coronavirus Concerns

Travelers from regions affected by the Coronavirus epidemic to Morocco are "subject to medical control". These are the assurances given by the Head of Government, Saâdeddine El Otmani, on Thursday in Rabat, stressing that all necessary precautions have been taken, in accordance with international standards of surveillance and monitoring in the event of an epidemic.
At the opening of the Council of Government on Thursday, the Minister of Health, in an address, announced that no suspected case of coronavirus infection has been recorded.
"All travelers arriving in the Kingdom by air, sea or land, from regions affected by the coronavirus epidemic, are subject to medical control in order to protect the borders of our country and the safety of our citizens," said Khalid Ait Taleb, while stressing that "the health of citizens is a priority."
Similarly, assures the minister, control and monitoring are carried out continuously in all regions of Morocco by the authorities concerned, mainly the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the local and provincial authorities and the security authorities at the various entry points of the Kingdom.
For his part, after reassuring that "all necessary precautions have been taken in accordance with international standards of surveillance and monitoring in the event of an epidemic," the Head of Government deplored the circulation, from time to time, of unfounded information through the publication of videos and testimonies of people who are not aware of what they are disseminating in public opinion.
Saâdeddine El Otmani also took the opportunity to call "on all those who spread this information without verification to put an end to these rumors, because they assume a great responsibility in the dissemination of terror and panic among the peaceful citizens, which is totally unreasonable."
