Morocco Suspends Teacher Accused of Assaulting 8-Year-Old Student Pending Investigation

The teacher accused of assaulting an 8-year-old girl, in the second year of primary school at the Aourir school group, in the rural commune of Bounrar, has been suspended as a precautionary measure, Wednesday, January 15, 2020. This is the decision of the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research.
It was decided to suspend the teacher "until the truth is fully revealed and the judicial investigation is completed," sources from the Ministry of Education told Hespress.
Following the physical violence suffered by the schoolgirl, the regional directorate of the ministry in Taroudant had decided to set up a "quadruple commission of educational supervisors to follow up with the head of the Regional Observatory against violence in schools, to conduct an in-depth investigation".
On Tuesday, the Attorney General of the King near the Court of First Instance of Taroudant decided to prosecute the teacher, accused while in custody, and to summon him to the first hearing of his trial the same day.
For his part, the teacher under investigation flatly rejects all the accusations made against him by the schoolgirl’s family. He would have spoken to the authorities about the confessions made to him by the student about the "ill-treatment inflicted by her mother, who tried to make her bear the accusation," indicate the same sources.
