Moroccan Teacher Released After Serving Sentence for Student Assault

The violent teacher from Taroudant is now free to move around. He was released on Friday, March 13, after serving his prison sentence.
In January, the teacher had been accused of assaulting an 8-year-old student, beating her severely. She came out with a fractured nose and suffers from numerous lesions and bruises to the face.
Arrested, the accused denied the facts. The investigation conducted by the gendarmerie services concluded that he was guilty, even though many witnesses claimed that the parents also had their share of responsibility in this violence.
Sentenced on January 27 to 10 months’ imprisonment, including 6 months suspended, the teacher had his sentence reduced on appeal to two months’ imprisonment and a fine of 40,000 dirhams.
