Moroccan Teacher Appeals Sentence in Student Assault Case

The case of the teacher who assaulted one of his students in Taroudant will be examined on Tuesday, February 18 by the Agadir Court of Appeal. The lawyers for the student, as well as those for the teacher, have appealed the decision of the court of first instance, which had sentenced the teacher to 10 months in prison, including 4 suspended, and the payment of a fine of 40,000 dh.
Judicial sources indicate that the defendant was convicted, at first instance, by the Taroudant court, for assault and battery on a child by a person in authority over him, under the provisions of Article 404 of the Penal Code, reports article19.ma.
The family of the 8-year-old victim accused the teacher of having assaulted their child at the "Aourir" school group in the Taroudant region. The latter continues to completely deny the accusations against him.
