Morocco Surpasses China in COVID-19 Cases, Ranks 38th Globally

Morocco is now the 38th country most affected by the coronavirus pandemic worldwide. In less than three months, the number of infections has multiplied in the country and the health authorities are increasingly struggling to cope with the influx of patients.

The most feared scenario is unfortunately presenting itself. With a total of 86,686 cases of contamination since the beginning of the pandemic, Morocco has just surpassed China, which has 85,184. According to the Worldometer website, which has drawn up a list of the countries with the most alarming infection rates, Morocco is in 38th place. The 2,251 new confirmed cases recorded in the last 24 hours have propelled the country to this position.

The United States is at the top of the ranking, followed by India, Brazil, Russia, Peru, Colombia and Mexico. In Africa, South Africa is in the lead with 649,793 confirmed cases. In terms of number of deaths, the country is in eighth place in the world with 15,447 deaths.

Saudi Arabia occupies the first place in the Arab world with 325,651 cases of contamination and 4,268 deaths. It is followed by Iraq with 290,309 cases and 8,014 deaths. In third place is Qatar, which has recorded 121,740 cases. And in fourth place and 34th place worldwide, we find Egypt with 101,009, followed by Kuwait with 94,764 and Oman with 89,746.
