Morocco Surges to 30th Globally in COVID-19 Testing, Outpacing Several European Nations

Morocco ranks 30th in the global ranking of countries that have carried out the most Covid-19 screening tests. This leap forward is explained by the fact that since the beginning of September, an average of 25,000 tests have been carried out per day.
Since March 2, 2020, Morocco has carried out more than 2.1 million screenings. A performance that places it ahead of Singapore, South Korea, and a range of European countries such as Ukraine, the Netherlands, Romania, Sweden and Austria. As one might expect, China and the United States are at the top of the ranking with 160 million and 87 million tests carried out respectively. Outside of Morocco, another African country, South Africa, is in the top 30 globally, occupying 16th place with nearly 4 million tests, reports challenge.ma.
Such performance in terms of conducting screening tests is proof that infection cases are evolving in an alarming way. Just on Sunday, September 6, Morocco recorded 2,234 new cases of contamination, a record figure never recorded in a single day since the start of the pandemic.
Screening testing plays a crucial role in preventive measures. This is why the number of laboratories in Morocco has increased from three initially to more than 30 now spread across several cities in the country, the same source specifies.
