Morocco Ramps Up COVID-19 Testing, Reaches 17,500 Daily Screenings

Morocco is stepping up its fight against coronavirus. The kingdom now exceeds 17,500 screening tests per day in the 24 national laboratories, according to the Minister of Health.
Since the recording of the first case of covid-19, Morocco has launched screening tests with an average of 200 people per day in three laboratories, explained the minister in charge during a webinar initiated with the Moroccan Society of Medical Sciences and the National Federation of Health for the benefit of media professionals. The kingdom has achieved this result by going from 3 laboratories to 24, he had added.
For the member of the government, this performance does not take into account "the laboratories of the military health and the private sector which also have the necessary prevention and health safety conditions to carry out the PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction)".
To date, the citizens who have undergone the screening tests amount to more than 340,000. "There are some citizens who have benefited from the tests several times. This significant figure reflects a colossal effort," said Khalid Ait Taleb.
For the record, Morocco has secured the 2nd place of the country that has carried out the most screening tests, just behind South Africa, and far ahead of Ghana and Egypt.
