Morocco Surges to Third Most COVID-19 Cases in Africa, Overtaking Nigeria

Despite the many efforts made to curb the spread of the coronavirus, Morocco is the third African country most affected by the virus. This leap forward in this sad ranking is explained by the multiplication of cases of contamination in recent weeks.
Morocco has recorded more than 50,000 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic. In less than a month, that is to say from August 1 to 23, 28,000 cases have been detected, thus propelling the country to third place in the top 5 of the African countries most affected. Morocco surpasses Nigeria, a country distinguished by the density of its population. In the ranking, South Africa is in first place with 609,773 cases and Egypt in second place with 97,340, followed by Nigeria and Ghana.
On the other hand, in terms of the number of deaths, Morocco records 888 cases, even if in recent days the number of deaths in hospitals has accelerated. As for the other countries in the ranking, they have crossed the 1,000 death mark, while some have the lowest infection rates.
