Morocco Strengthens Defense Ties: Hosts French Security Chief After US General’s Visit

After the visit earlier this month of American General Mark Milley, Morocco hosted Régis Colcombet, Director of Security and Defense Cooperation (DCSD) of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.
On the agenda of this working visit to Morocco that has just ended, Army General Régis Colcombet had talks with several Moroccan partners on issues related to security and defense cooperation, the French embassy in Morocco said in a tweet.
The DCSD is responsible for steering structural cooperation actions internationally in the field of defense, internal security and civil protection. In this area, Morocco and France maintain relations from which joint exercises have been born, including one called "Echange Air Maroc 2022", conducted in May 2022.
There was also the naval exercise carried out jointly on October 17, 2022, by the French, Moroccan and Senegalese armies. It should also be noted the air-land maneuvers that took place in April in the Errachidia desert as part of the "Chergui" exercise.
