Morocco’s Stray Dog Cull Sparks Controversy: 80 Killed in Sidi Ifni Province

A group of villagers from the province of Sidi Ifni organized, in coordination with the local authorities, a large-scale campaign to remove dogs from the region. According to local sources, this campaign resulted in the elimination of 80 dogs from Tiougra, Aït Aaza and Perfona.
This operation, which resulted in the killing of 80 dogs, is perceived by animal rights defenders as an inhumane attitude and even a genocide.
However, according to lesesco.ma, the massive eradication of these 80 "dogs is a good thing, in the eyes of the inhabitants who have strongly collaborated in its success".
Animal rights defenders call for an end to this attitude and for finding other solutions to limit their number in the region and more generally in Morocco.
