Rabat Farmers Slaughter 30 Stray Dogs After Sheep Attacks, Sparking Outrage

Shepherds and farmers from Rabat organized the slaughter of 30 stray dogs in Hay Karima, Rabat-Salé, on January 5. The reason for this animal tragedy, they claim, is the insecurity of their herds, often attacked by these stray dogs.
The shepherds and farmers of this locality have shown surprising cruelty with these stray dogs that they have killed mercilessly. They explained that this pack of stray dogs killed 15 of their sheep. Faced with this attack, they say they have informed the local authorities in vain, who asked them to participate in the purchase of ammunition.
According to a member of "La Tribu des Quat’pattes", an animal rights association in Rabat, and a witness to the scene, the shepherds and farmers are poor and cannot afford this luxury. As a result, they took the initiative to kill these dogs themselves.
Thus, they savagely killed the canines, while some were even tortured. "We found dogs killed with large stones on their heads. Others were stabbed or buried alive. We even found a pregnant bitch, burned alive," testified the anonymous member.
At the scene, the volunteers of La Tribu des "Quat’pattes" nevertheless had difficulty recovering the only dog rescued from the lot in order to administer medical care, the witness to the scene specifies. In addition, the Salé police elements are currently conducting investigations, in collaboration with this animal protection association, to arrest the perpetrators of this carnage.
