Morocco Launches Stray Dog Vaccination Program to Curb Population Humanely

The sterilization and vaccination of stray dogs could be the palliative measure in the coming weeks to spare these animals from massacres and at the same time preserve the health of the population.
No more stray dogs shot in Moroccan cities. This decision taken by animal welfare associations, in concert with the competent authorities, will cost the royal treasury nearly 2 million dirhams, according to the president of the Moroccan Association of Veterinarians for Companion Animals (AMVAC), Hassan Bouayad to HuffPost.
According to the association leader, the pilot experience of this operation is scheduled for Témara in the coming weeks, under the supervision of members of his association. If it proves successful, it will gradually be extended to other cities, the same source said.
It should be noted that this campaign follows an agreement signed at the end of the first quarter of the year between the Ministry of the Interior, to which the local authorities are attached, the National Order of Veterinarians, the Departments of Agriculture and Health.
