Injury Doubt Clouds Ziyech’s AFCON Availability for Morocco vs South Africa Clash
Hakim Ziyech may not play the round of 16 match against South Africa, at the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire. The Atlas Lion was substituted due to injury during the match against Zambia.
Ziyech’s chances of participating in this fateful match remain "low," sources told the Al3omk website, adding that the Moroccan national team coach, Walid Regragui, is awaiting the results of the player’s medical examinations to make a decision.
The medical team is doing its best to get Ziyech back on his feet so that he can participate in this match against the "Bafana Bafana," even from the substitutes’ bench. For its part, the technical staff hopes to see the Galatasaray player participate in this much-awaited match. In any case, Regragui’s decision on Ziyech’s participation or not will come on Monday, the same sources said.
Hakim Ziyech was substituted due to injury during the match against Zambia last Wednesday, after scoring the only goal of the match. He was replaced by Amine Adli after halftime. The Atlas Lion was absent from last Friday’s training session, raising concerns about his health.
First in Group F with 7 points, Morocco will face South Africa in the round of 16 next Tuesday at 9 p.m. Moroccan time, on the field of the Laurent Pokou stadium in San Pedro.
