Key Morocco Stars Ziyech and Boufal Miss Training Ahead of Crucial AFCON Match

Hakim Ziyech and Sofiane Boufal did not participate in the fourth training session of the Atlas Lions which took place on Sunday at the August-Denise stadium in San Pedro, Côte d’Ivoire. Will they miss the round of 16 match between Morocco and South Africa on Tuesday?
Hakim Ziyech and Sofiane Boufal absent for the match between Morocco and South Africa? On Sunday, the two Moroccan players were absent from the collective training session. The Galatasaray star came off injured during the match against Zambia after scoring the only goal of the match. He was replaced by Amine Adli after half-time. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has not, for the moment, communicated on the nature of the injury of the former Ajax star, nor the duration of his unavailability. Ziyech was also not present at the training session on Friday. His compatriot Soufiane Boufal should, for his part, undergo medical examinations to determine the severity of his injury, we learn from sources close to the Lions.
Morocco will face South Africa in the round of 16 of the CAN on Tuesday at 9 pm (Moroccan time) at the Laurent Pokou stadium in San Pedro. The two teams have already faced each other eight times. The Atlas Lions have won two matches, while the Banafa banafa have won three. The two teams drew three times. If the men of Walid Regragui qualify for the quarter-finals, they will face the winner of the Mauritania/Cape Verde match, scheduled for this Monday, January 29 at the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny stadium in Abidjan at 6 pm (Moroccan time).
