Morocco Slips to 97th in Global Happiness Rankings, Report Shows

Morocco ranks 97th in the 2020 "World Happiness Report" ranking, losing 8 places compared to last year.

Morocco is far behind Libya (80th worldwide). The kingdom is regressing year after year in the "World Happiness Report" ranking. In 2019, the country was in 89th place worldwide out of 156 countries. Morocco’s ranking in this ranking clearly shows that Moroccans are enjoying less and less happiness.

Finland once again occupies the first place in this ranking. It is the happiest country in the world. As for France, it takes 23rd place, thus gaining one place. South Sudan (155th) and Afghanistan (156th) close the podium.

"The happiest countries are those where people feel a sense of belonging, where they trust and appreciate each other," explains John Helliwell, co-author of the 2020 report.

This report did not take into account the exceptional measures put in place by several countries to counter the COVID-19 epidemic.
