Morocco Slips to 100th in World Happiness Rankings, Study Finds

Morocco is ranked 100th happiest country in the world according to the 2022 World Happiness Report. A drop of 11 places compared to the 2019 ranking.
Initiated by the United Nations, this study takes into account criteria such as income, social support, health, freedom, corruption, etc. This year the report found a moderate increase in stress, anxiety and sadness rates in most countries, as well as a slight long-term decline in life enjoyment rates.
According to the 2022 ranking, Morocco has fallen 11 degrees in the global ranking, from 89th place in 2019 to 100th out of 146 countries, and is ranked third in North Africa, behind Libya (86th globally) and Algeria (96th globally), Tunisia in 120th place and Mauritania in 133rd place globally.
In the global top, Finland has retained its first place for the fifth consecutive year as the happiest country in the world, followed by Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland and the Netherlands. While Afghanistan has been awarded the title of the most unhappy country, ranking 146th. Lebanon, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Botswana complete the bottom of the ranking.
