Morocco Showcases Tourism Offerings at Major Israeli Travel Expo

As part of the offensive to revive tourism in Morocco, the Director General of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), Adel El Fakir, at the head of a large delegation of Moroccan operators, is in Israel as part of the International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM) which is being held on March 29 and 30 in Tel Aviv.
The International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM) in Tel Aviv is "the largest tourism industry event in Israel," the ONMT said in a statement, noting that more than thirty Moroccan operators are on site.
As soon as diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel were resumed, "the ONMT mobilized to activate direct air connections between our two countries. Today, we are shifting into high gear by laying the foundations for a lasting relationship with all Israeli travel prescribers, by forging partnership agreements and launching a major communication and promotion campaign," said El Fakir, quoted in the statement.
According to the ONMT, the Israeli market is strategic and of paramount importance for the Moroccan destination with around 8 million Israelis traveling abroad each year. Not to mention the thousands of Moroccans based in Israel who now have the opportunity to return regularly.
The ONMT hopes to attract at least 200,000 visitors this year thanks to the partnership between the national airline Royal Air Maroc, the Israeli airlines El Al, Israir, Arkia and the ONMT.
