Morocco Sets 2021 Election Calendar, Parliamentary Vote Before October 8

Elections will indeed take place in Morocco and on time. An initial electoral calendar has just been published by the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit.
During a meeting with the leaders of the most representative trade union centers, the Minister of the Interior announced that all electoral elections will take place before the parliamentary return on October 8, reports Assabah. However, the minister hopes that the health situation of the country will not impact this calendar and also insisted on the implementation of the electoral laws after the agreement of the Constitutional Court. Thus, professional elections will begin once the legal framework is completed, said an anonymous trade union official.
Thus, the elections of the members of the joint commissions in the civil service, the local authorities and the public establishments will take place on June 16. For the private sector, the elections of staff representatives will take place between June 10 and 20. As for the election of the members of the Professional Chambers (the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries), it will take place in July, the minister said.
As for the legislative, regional, municipal and other territorial elections, they will be organized in September. The municipal, regional and legislative elections will certainly be organized on the same day. The designation of the members of the second Chamber is scheduled for the same month.
It should be noted that these dates are still provisional. They will be maintained depending on the evolution of the pandemic in the kingdom. The officials were in favor of organizing the municipal, regional and legislative elections in June, if the national vaccination campaign had covered at least 60% of the vaccinated population.
