Morocco Set to Launch Vaccination Campaign with 500,000 Sinopharm Doses

Contrary to the AstraZeneca vaccine, Morocco should receive on Wednesday, January 27, 500,000 doses of the vaccine from the Chinese laboratory Sinopham. They should allow the vaccination of 250,000 people (i.e. two doses per person at 21 days apart compared to 28 days for the vaccine developed by AstraZeneca).
These 500,000 doses of this vaccine should be shipped a few days after the receipt of the AstraZeneca laboratory vaccines. On Friday, January 22, 2021, the Ministry of Health had urgently granted authorization for the Chinese vaccine after the opinion of the National Advisory Commission for the Authorization of Anti-Covid Vaccines.
As soon as these doses are received, the national vaccination campaign should start in Morocco. In anticipation of the launch of the campaign, the distribution of the vaccine doses has started this Monday, January 25 in Casablanca. The first trucks loaded with the vaccine doses left the Autonomous Refrigeration Authority of Casablanca (RAFC) in the morning, where the vaccines are stored under very strict security conditions.
