Morocco to Receive 2 Million Sinopharm Vaccine Doses, Boosting Covid-19 Campaign

Morocco will receive, in the coming days, two million doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine. This delivery will give a boost to the Covid-19 vaccination campaign, which is suffering from a shortage of the first vaccine doses.
In total, 2 million additional doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine are expected to be delivered to Morocco on March 30, 2021, reports Le360. The Ministry of Health confirms a "significant arrival of Sinopharm vaccine doses, at the end of March". This new delivery will allow Morocco to accelerate its vaccination campaign against the coronavirus. Moreover, the agents will be able to administer the first injection to citizens who have not yet received it.
To date, Morocco has received 8.5 million doses of vaccines: 7 million doses of the British AstraZeneca vaccine and 1.5 million doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine. The last delivery of the latter took place on March 6. In total, 500,000 doses were received. As of March 21, 2021, 4,264,168 people have received the first dose of the vaccine, while 2,423,380 people have received the second injection.
