Morocco Seeks Third Futsal Title in African Cup Final Against Angola

The Moroccans and the Angolans meet this Sunday in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2024) of futsal. According to the coach of the Atlas Lions, Hicham Dguig, the match "will be difficult".

Twice crowned, Morocco is aiming for a third star in the futsal CAN final this Sunday. "The Angolan selection has achieved its objective of qualifying for the World Cup and it will play without pressure in the final, unlike us, because we want to retain the continental title," said Hicham Dguig at the post-match press conference against Libya (6-0) in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN-2024) of futsal. According to him, the match will be difficult. "Angola has a squad that has individual abilities that can make the difference and I think we will have a difficult and hard-fought match in the final," estimated the coach of the Moroccan national team.

By qualifying for the final, Morocco has automatically validated its ticket for the World Cup to be held in Uzbekistan between September 14 and October 6, 2024 and will bring together 24 teams. A possibility offered to the top three teams in the African tournament. Dguig says he is satisfied with the qualification for the World Cup in the discipline for the 4th consecutive time. "This shows that Morocco has taken responsibility for representing African futsal at the global level thanks to the interest shown by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation in this discipline," noted the national team coach.
