Morocco Secures Round of 16 Spot at AFCON with 2-0 Win Over Comoros
Two matches, two victories and a qualification for the Moroccan national football team. The Atlas Lions qualified a few minutes ago for the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations after beating the Comoros team 2-0.
The first goal was scored in the 16th minute by Selim Amallah. After a breakthrough and a cross from Achraf Hakimi on the right, the Comoros defense has trouble repelling the Moroccans. El Kaabi hits the defense a first time, but Selim Amallah takes the ball and shoots with his right foot at close range. That’s the goal.
The rest of the first half and a good part of the second are largely dominated by the Moroccan team with many goal opportunities and a very good Comorian goalkeeper.
The second goal was scored a few seconds from the end of the game by Zakaria Aboukhlal, who came on in the second half. Perfectly served by Selim Amallah, Aboukhlal opens his right foot to beat Ben Boina.
Thanks to this second victory, Morocco is qualified for the round of 16 of the AFCON. It will face the Gabon team next week.
