Morocco Advances to Africa Cup of Nations Quarterfinals with 2-1 Victory over Malawi

The Moroccan football team won tonight by 2 goals to 1 against the Malawi team in the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Morocco had a scare tonight, especially in the first half. As early as the 7th minute of the first half, Malawi took the lead after a ball loss by Morocco, allowing Mhango to curl a very nice right-footed shot into the top corner.
Despite the pressure from the Moroccans, with nearly 70% ball possession, it took until the last seconds of the first half for Youssef En-Nesyri to equalize with a cross header after a superb pass from Selim Amallah.
In the 70th minute, Achraf Hakimi gave the Moroccans the lead with a free-kick that flew over the Malawi defense wall and landed in the top corner. The goalkeeper could do nothing.
The Atlas Lions gave themselves a scare tonight but the essential is done: they are qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2022 AFCON.
