Morocco Advances to AFCON Quarter-Finals with Hard-Fought Win over Malawi

Explosion of joy in the Moroccan camp after the qualification of the Atlas Lions to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations. In a statement to the press, Vahid Halilhodzic acknowledged that the victory was "difficult" against this determined and committed Malawi team.
On Tuesday, January 25, the Moroccan players broke the curse of the round of 16 by qualifying thanks to the goals scored by Youssef En-Nésyri from Sevilla FC and Achraf Hakimi from PSG. Before the match, the coach of the Moroccan national team had declared that winning would not be easy, as the opposing team had the potential to win.
And Malawi proved to be very offensive by scoring first. "The match was difficult and we were able to qualify with difficulty. My players created a lot of opportunities and I was confident and sure that they would come back to the score," he said.
Completely won over by the endurance that the players have shown, he did not fail to express his gratitude and congratulations to them. "I thank them for this combativeness. Malawi scored a nice goal and we also scored beautiful goals."
Now the hardest part begins, because they will have to face the winner of the match between Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire in the quarter-finals. The technician urges his men to keep their feet on the ground so as not to forget the objective: to win the ticket for the semi-finals.
