Morocco Rises to 21st in FIFA World Rankings Despite Recent Loss

Despite its 3-0 defeat against the United States in a recent friendly match as part of the preparation for the next World Cup in Qatar, Morocco has improved its position in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola general ranking, totaling 1,558.90 points against 1,552 in May.
Morocco has gained three points compared to the previous FIFA ranking and climbs to 21st place in the world. The Atlas Lions are ranked second in Africa. Their score increased by 7.02 points, going from 1,552 points recorded in May to 1,558.90 points. The Moroccan team owes this progress to its qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and its position as leader in its group for the AFCON qualification.
Senegal, winner of the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2021), has retained its place at the top of African football. The Teranga Lions have gained two places in the world ranking and occupy the 18th position.
