Morocco Reports Surge in COVID-19 Cases, Complicating Lockdown Exit Plans

While they should see a decline in order to hope for a deconfinement, infections are on the rise again in Morocco. 163 new confirmed cases of coronavirus were recorded in the kingdom during the night from Sunday to Monday.

After showing 69 cases on April 29, they rose again on April 30 (102), May 1 (146), May 2 (160), May 3 (174), May 4 (150), May 5 (166), May 6 (189), May 7 (140), May 8 (163), May 9 (199), May 10 (153) to stand at 163 this Monday, May 11; bringing the total number of positive tested cases to 6,226.

The new report shows 188 deaths, 2,759 recoveries, 61,515 cases excluded after negative laboratory tests, and 3,279 cases under treatment.

As usual, the ministry calls on citizens to show responsibility and patriotism by respecting the rules of hygiene and health safety as well as the preventive measures taken by the Moroccan authorities.
