Morocco Reports 7% Rise in Traffic Accidents, but Fatalities Drop in 2019

887 people were killed and 95,593 others injured. This is the balance of 70,915 traffic accidents recorded in 2019, announced on Monday the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
Compared to 2018 when 66,185 accidents occurred, the number of accidents this year represents an increase of 7.15%. But fortunately, there is a 7.89% decrease in the number of people killed.
It should also be noted that the number of serious injuries has stabilized, while the number of minor injuries has increased by 9.58% compared to 2018.
Regarding the security measures taken to combat traffic accidents, the DGSN services continued the generalization of the computerized system for managing traffic offenses and the traffic police were equipped with 140 latest generation mobile radars and breathalyzers, not to mention the 128 roadblocks placed at the entrances and exits of cities in the kingdom, the same source indicates.
