Deadly Week on Moroccan Roads: 17 Killed, Over 1,600 Injured in Traffic Accidents

Last week, 17 people were killed in Morocco and 1,684 others were injured, including 47 seriously, in 1,254 traffic accidents.
In a press release, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicated that these accidents are mainly due to the violation of the highway code, the inattention of drivers, the lack of vehicle control, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Regarding the control and repression of traffic offenses, 39,873 tickets were recorded by the security services, which also drew up 10,750 reports submitted to the public prosecutor’s office. In total, 29,123 transaction fines were collected, the statement said.
Similarly, the DGSN points out that it collected 6,115,975 dirhams and sent 4,279 vehicles to the municipal pound, with the seizure of 6,175 documents and the withdrawal from circulation of 296 vehicles.
