Morocco Reports Over Half of Total COVID-19 Cases in August Alone

The first 23 days of August have been trying for Morocco in terms of Covid-19 contamination. More than half of the total number of infections detected were recorded during this period.
The announcement was made by the coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health, Mouad Mrabet. It was on Tuesday during the weekly statement on the epidemiological situation in Morocco. Since March 2, when the first case was detected, the kingdom has counted until Tuesday, August 25, 52,349 cases, and the total number of deaths stands at 888. The total number of recoveries stands at 36,343, reports the MAP, which points out that Morocco ranks 49th worldwide and 3rd on the continental level in the ranking of countries affected by the virus.
Mouad Mrabet took advantage of this weekly update to remind that the wearing of protective masks is mandatory in all public places. He also specified that the virus is still as dangerous as on the first day, and that the relaxation in compliance with preventive measures has contributed to its spread. He reassured the population about the rumors circulating about a possible transmission of Covid-19 from insects or domestic animals to humans.
According to the official, the virus is transmitted directly, from one person to another. Rare cases of infected animals have been recorded in some countries, he added.
In terms of awareness for the fight against the virus, the coordinator explained that it is important to do without wearing a mask during physical activities. This can lead to breathing difficulties. He suggests outdoor sports while respecting social distancing of at least one meter, specifies the same source.
