Morocco: record seizure of 30 tons of cannabis resin in Safi
The customs services and elements of the regional command of the Royal Gendarmerie of Safi thwarted on Sunday an attempt at international drug trafficking. No less than 30 tons of cannabis resin were seized.
The information is reported by Assabah, which specifies that the drugs were carefully hidden in trucks parked in clandestine depots. The members of this international drug trafficking network made believe that it was just ordinary goods, and were waiting for the right moment to transport the drugs to Europe. But thanks to the vigilance of the customs and Royal Gendarmerie services, their plan was thwarted.
The operation, carried out in the rural commune of Had Hrara under the province of Safi, resulted in the seizure of 30 tons of cannabis resin, sophisticated inflatable boats, bales and three heavy trucks. The traffickers and their accomplices managed to flee. The security services are continuing the investigations in order to identify and arrest all the people involved in this international drug trafficking.
