Morocco Receives 2 Million Doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 Vaccine from China
Morocco has received a new shipment of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine. A Royal Air Maroc (RAM) Dreamliner landed on Wednesday at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca from Beijing.
In total, 2 million doses of the vaccine from the Chinese laboratory Sinopharm were received at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca after the landing of a Dreamliner from the national airline. This new delivery is different from the previous ones. The Chinese vial now contains two doses of the vaccine instead of a single dose.
These vaccines were transported by trucks from the National Transport and Logistics Company (SNTL) to the Independent Freezing Agency, located in the economic capital of the kingdom. They will then be transported to the vaccination centers. Another Dreamliner should land on Wednesday in Casablanca from Beijing, the civil aviation authority also announces.
The pace of Chinese deliveries is accelerating, which will allow Morocco to continue its vaccination campaign without a hitch. The President of the National People’s Assembly of China, Li Zhanshu, is gradually keeping the promise he made during his interview with Habib El Malki, President of the House of Representatives, to deliver 10 million doses between April and May 2021. The Chinese laboratory Sinopharm delivered to Morocco 2 million doses on May 9 and 10 and 1 million doses in two deliveries on April 26 and 30.
As of May 18, 6,458,947 people have received the first dose. The number of people who have received the two doses is 4,542,426.
