Sunday 3 July 2022, by
A first batch of the 24 "AH-64 Apache" helicopters that Morocco had ordered from the American manufacturer Boeing will soon be delivered to it.
According to a well-informed source, Morocco will receive a first batch of these aircraft next year, reports Hespress. Initially scheduled for 2022, the delivery of the first batch has been postponed to 2023, as the aircraft are still being finalized. Technical modifications will also need to be added to this order. The American manufacturer Boeing will have to deliver the 24 aircraft to Morocco by 2025. In anticipation of the receipt of the first batch, the kingdom has undertaken the rehabilitation of the Khouribga military airport.
A contract for the purchase of 24 AH-64 Apache helicopters had been concluded between the American manufacturer Boeing and the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) in June 2020. The AH-64 Apache helicopter is a model equipped with the latest communication, navigation, sensor and weapon systems, which is currently deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan on US Army helicopters and on US Navy and Air Force aircraft. The cost of an AH-64 Apache is estimated at over $14.5 million.
