Morocco's First Apache AH-64E Helicopters Enter Production at Boeing Plant

Things are becoming clearer for the delivery by Morocco of the first batch of 24 "Apache AH-64 E" helicopters, destined for the Royal Moroccan Air Force, which it had ordered from the American manufacturer Boeing.

The Boeing Mesa plant based in Arizona, United States, has started production of the first of the 24 Apache helicopters - one of the most advanced versions of the famous Apache helicopter series - destined for the Royal Moroccan Air Force, reports Le360 citing "Far Maroc". This is reassuring for Morocco, which expects to receive a first batch of these aircraft soon. Work is underway to prepare the Khouribga military base to welcome the Apache squadrons by the end of next year and early 2025.

In June 2020, a contract for the purchase of 24 Apache AH-64 helicopters had been concluded between the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing and the Royal Armed Forces as part of the US government’s Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program dedicated to the sale of defense products and military equipment abroad. This agreement also opens up the possibility of increasing the number of aircraft involved in the transaction up to 36, specifies the "FAR-Maroc" forum.

"The acquisition of these advanced aircraft offers a significant strategic asset to Morocco, thus strengthening its defense capabilities for the years to come," estimates Christina Upah, vice president of attack helicopter programs and principal director of the Boeing Mesa site. Designed for multi-purpose missions and offering improved capabilities, the Apache AH-64E helicopter is a model equipped with the latest communication, navigation, sensor, and armament systems. The aircraft is also equipped with a modernized day/night target designation and tracking device, regardless of weather conditions.
