US-Morocco Military Exercise ’African Lion 2022’ Concludes with F-16 Training

Training between the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and the US Armed Forces and exercises in the Mahbes area have ended the 18th edition of African Lion, a Moroccan-American military exercise aimed at improving the interoperability of allied armies.
African Lion 2022 ended on Thursday, June 30 in Cap Draâ, in the Tan Tan region, with the training of the FAR and the US Armed Forces, as well as exercises in the Mahbes area, reports the Arabic daily Assabah. The Moroccan F16 planes carried out several maneuvers, including bombing of targets by Apache helicopters and with the help of armored vehicles, accompanied by Abrams tanks, live ammunition bombing of Abrams tanks, the execution of several missions by means of the FAR and the US Air Force, including Moroccan F16 aircraft, American B1 bombers and American AH 64 Apache helicopters.
The ground maneuvers include heavy artillery fire, the launch of long-range ground-to-ground missiles and the launch of missiles from Moroccan-American Abrams armored vehicles, as well as infantry maneuvers through the use of heavy armored vehicles transporting soldiers. Not to mention shooting sessions (use of various weapons: individual, Abrams tanks, heavy artillery, missile launchers), parachute jumps for paratroopers, the use of Moroccan Chinook helicopters and Bayraktar TB2 drones, etc.
