Morocco Reaches Milestone: 12% of Population Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19

Morocco has taken giant steps in the race to immunize its population against Covid-19. In the kingdom, 6 million people have already received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. Significant figures in the current context marked by frequent shortages of vaccine doses.
Thanks to its strategy praised by the International Monetary Fund, Morocco, which is deploying a vaccination system aimed at reaching all regions of the country, has already vaccinated at least once, 6.04 million people, or 16.3% of the population, of which 4.45 million have received a second dose of the vaccine. The proportion of the immunized population has reached 12% out of the 80% targeted by the government, which on May 10 expanded the vaccine to people over 50 years of age.
The kingdom can count on its impressive stock of vaccines, recently reinforced by two million additional doses of the Chinese Sinopharm. According to figures from the Duke Global Health Innovation Center in the United States, some 41 million doses have been ordered by the country from Sinopharm and 50 million more from AstraZeneca.
If Morocco maintains its vaccination offensive, it is nevertheless not letting up on restrictive measures in the name of vigilance. No relaxation has been allowed for the Eid Al-Fitr holiday in order to avoid an unpleasant surprise in the aftermath of the celebrations. Air borders have remained closed with France and Spain since the end of March and with India since April 24. Two cases of the "Indian" variant have nevertheless been recorded.
