Morocco to Receive 2 Million Sinopharm Vaccine Doses, Expanding Vaccination Efforts

Morocco should receive a new shipment of 2 million doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine this week, according to Saif Afif, member of the National Scientific Committee for Anti-Covid Vaccination.
This new shipment will allow Morocco to expand its vaccination to other age groups, particularly 45-40 year olds. Currently, people aged between 50-45 have been added to the list following the receipt of 650,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine as part of the COVAX program, said Dr. Saif Afif.
The 2 million doses that Morocco is expecting from China are part of the 10 million doses that Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the National People’s Assembly of China, had announced for the Kingdom, during a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Habib El Malki. He had stated that Morocco will receive 10 million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine during the months of April and May 2021.
The vaccination report in Morocco as of Monday, May 17, shows a total of 6,458,947 people vaccinated, including 4,542,426 fully (1st and 2nd doses).
