Morocco Raises Healthcare Costs: Doctor Visits and Hospital Stays See Significant Price Hikes

The Minister of Health, Khalid Aït Taleb, and the Director General of the National Health Insurance Agency (ANAM), Khalid Lahlou, validated the agreements setting the new medical rates. These rates have been revised upwards.
The consultation with a general practitioner is now set at 150 dirhams instead of 80 previously, and at 250 dirhams instead of 150 dirhams with a specialist doctor. As for the stay in intensive care, the rate goes from 1,500 dirhams/day to 2,500 dirhams. That of intensive care goes from 1,000 to 1,500 dirhams/day. Regarding medical hospitalization costs, they go from 550 dirhams to 850 dirhams/day.
The origin of this increase in medical rates is the five protocols signed by the CNSS and ANAM, after several months of negotiations. An increase in other more targeted consultations will be announced in the coming days, it is specified.
