Marrakech Hospital Fined $10,000 for Patient Neglect and Admission Refusal

The administrative court of Marrakech has given a favorable outcome to the legal action brought by a patient against the Marrakech University Hospital Center, for negligence and refusal to admit him.
In this sense, the Court decided, on December 30, 2019, to order the hospital establishment, in the person of its director, to pay compensation of 100,000 dirhams to the injured patient.
This decision was made in accordance with the law, which recognizes the right of patients to reception and consultation, as well as hospitalization in intensive care if the state of health requires it, even in the absence of available beds.
For public opinion, this trial is a powerful signal to put an end to the anarchy and dilettantism prevailing in public health establishments, which deprives citizens of a fundamental right.
